Relive the life of local fisherfolk past and present. Passing through the Fish Market, the Kattesas sluice gate and the hiking trail we discover the oldest marina and the unique Yser Estuary nature reserve with its salt marshes and mud flats. By the way, do you know why there are so many broken mussel shells?

The watchtower offers us the opportunity to spot all kinds of birds. If you look closely, you might even discover a seal. We are also taken back in time: the Battle of Nieuwpoort (1600), WW I, WW II, when minesweepers came into their own. The storm surge barrier is our guarantee of dry feet. The port of Nieuwpoort's past, present and future.
